Module details for 2026/27.

FHEQ Level 6
Module Outline
Elite sport is a unique environment characterised by high-stakes and high-pressure where careers are often defined by success (i.e., how much they win). Despite this, athletes and teams frequently demonstrate sustained high-level performance. This module examines contemporary sport psychology theory and research to explain how athletes and teams win in such extreme conditions.
The module is structured in two parts: first, students will explore theory and research related to individual performance such as confidence, motivation, and resilience; second while the second considers group and team processes, including leadership, cohesion, and identity.
