Knowledge exchange

An important element of the Crime Research Centre’s work is sharing our research expertise with the wider community through contributions to law reform consultations, expert consultancy, and a range of other activities. Through this work we aim to inform relevant law and policy, educate the public, and collaborate with community partners to tackle the challenges they face.

Law Reform Consultations

  • Submission to the Law Commission consultation on Offences Against the Person, cited throughout the .

Expert advice

  • Cassandra Wiener briefed the House of Lords on the issue of coercive control, which was fed into debates about the Domestic Abuse Bill that is currently going through parliament. Viscount Goschen and Baroness Hayman both expressed their gratitude to Cassandra, who highlighted a significant problem with current legislative arrangements. 
  • Dr Lucy Welsh evidence submitted to the Justice Committee inquiry, The Future of Legal Aid, that has been published on the inquiry website. Read here: . She was subsequently invited to participate in a roundtable discussion with the Justice Committee as part of that enquiry. Dr Welsh has also been invited to participate in the  as an expert on ‘Incentives and Structures for Provision.
